A NEW Community Spirit Emerging!

7 days ago, 80-20 announced that  "If SELF fails, PAC dies."  Since then, a powerful NEW community spirit -- "All for one, and one for all" -- is emerging.

Donation to SELF has since jumped by " $27,800/yr for 5 years" or $20,000 per day for 7 consecutive  days .   Let's not be overjoyed, however.   Ask!  Is that NEW spirit pervasive enough and sustaining enough to save  PAC?

                  New knights to PAC's Rescue

1)  A donor in the "$10k/yr for 5 yrs or morelevel  emailed  asking:
. . .  What do you propose we should do to help?  xx.    What a spirit!

2) Aihua Xie,  Stillwater, OK   did a 30x from  $100/yr for 5 yrs.  Note: 30x !

3) Wei Li,  Elmhurst, NY  did a  1 0x from  $100/yr for 5 yrs. recently

4) Bing Xiao,  Troy, MI   did a  1 0x from  $100/yr for 5 yrs.

5) Andrew Li,  Mountain View, CA   did a  5 x from  $200/yr for 5 yrs.

6) Hao Zhang,  Framingham, MA   did a  5 x from 1 00/yr for 5 yrs.

7) . . .   10 others became 2x or 3x donors  -  an idea advanced by  Ting-Wei Tang  of  Bristow, VA.  His idea ALSO  induced many non-donors to become donors.  80-20 salutes him.

Good News and Even Better News
(a) Good News:

Last Friday, you heard from 80-20 that Bob Beckel was finally fired by Fox !
Beckel had spit in our faces. Unfortunately, 80-20 PAC was not strong enough to get Beckel fired right away.  But eventually, we helped make him pay.   His being fired will be remembered  by those who may want to tread on us in the future.   If 80-20 dies, we'll not even get that.

(b) Even Better News?

Yesterday, the Supreme Court  announced they will RECONSIDER "race- conscious" college admissions.

The 3rd paragraph of one Boston Globe article  reported:
" In returning to the case, the court signaled that it might be
prepared  to  issue a major decision on the role race may play
          in government  decision making."

In a NYT article, it reported in its 2nd  paragraph
"The move, which supporters of race-conscious admissions
programs called baffling and ominous, signaled that the court
may limit or even end such affirmative action."

The final outcome is not yet known, but the momentum has obviously shifted in our favor ever since  80-20 became the first AsAm national org. to oppose "race-conscious"  college admissions and to strongly disagree with all other so-called  "AsAm civil rights" orgs.

Remember that most of the so-called "AsAm civil rights" orgs. still support "race conscious" college admissions!  Why?   Could it be that they were and are mostly  financially supported by non-AsAm money?  In contrast,  80-20 Initiative insists  on operating on AsAm money only.   But! But!   80-20 PAC is dying.

Is there a  message here that all AsAms should understand?

PS                         A personal Apology from S. B. Woo

I don't have an employed assistant any more - a money saving move.  Sarah Chang, a great volunteer, has a personal situation recently that she has to drastically cut down her commitment to 80-20.  As a result, I work 8 to 14 hours everyday, including weekends and holidays.  Even that is often not enough to take care of 80-20's responsibility to our community.   So I set clear priorities.  On BIG issues, I tried hard to represent you honorably and perhaps superbly.  On personal communications, however, I don't check typos. The lack of quality in such personal emails does NOT imply disregard for you personally.   Please accept my  apologies.  I'm  77.  I've lost some motor & other skills.  May I depend on your smarts to understand my emails in-spite-of typos and grammatical mistakes .  Again, my apologies.

BUT!!!  Unless hundreds more knights will arrive, PAC is still dying.

                            Pick Your Answer

Q: Why are these knights trying to help SELF reach its target?

A:  They are trying to  a) save 80-20 PAC, or
                                   b) save S. B. Woo's face, or
                                   c) save the rights and collective honor and dignity *of AsAms, which include those of mine and my children.

* EXTRA!  EXTRA!   Bob Beckel fired by Fox yesterday!  A CNN article reported:
"Beckel has been in the channel's doghouse before.  He apologized last summer for his use of the derogatory term "Chinamen" on Fox News. A few weeks later, Beckel  took to Twitter  to issue a cryptic and somewhat incoherent apology for an on-air comment that he said left his "Fox boss" unhappy."

80-20 was NOT strong enough to get Beckel fired right away.  Fox is a private business which is much less vulnerable than a political  candidate to 80-20's clout. However, our protest certainly let Beckel feel  lots of pain.   His being fired will be remembered by those  who may want to tread on us in the future.   If 80-20 dies, we'll not even get that.

An Unsolicited Movement to Save PAC

KNIGHTS -- male, female, young and old -- rode in to rescue 80-20 PAC.  With a collective spirit and "can do" attitude like this, mountains will move and dreams will turn into realities.

See what these knights have to say and will DO!

(1) Ting-wei Tang is a $2k/yr for 5 yrs. donors.   Click here to verify.

Dear S. B.: . . .  isn't it easier to ask the already committed donors to double or triple their commitments towards whatever amount needed to achieve the goal?
I will  . .  definitely consider it.    Ting-wei

(2) Wei-Jing Zhu is $3k/yr for 5 yrs donor.  Click here to verify.

Dear S.B.  . . .  We will be increasing our pledge from the  $3K/yr level to $10K/year . . . , and also to look into matching grants by Apple, Inc.   . . . I will be dedicating the next few months to personally seeking new donors for 80-20 from all my friends. . . .    Wei-Jing

(3) Dominic Ng donated $7.5k in the last 2 year.  Click here to verify.

Dear SB, . . .  will make additional donations soon . . . Wai-Yim and Mon Yin

(7) Bob Chang has not donated before.  He wrote his children, friends and copied me in. . . . I have discussed with your mother, and will commit ourselves $200/yr, for 5 years to the SELF, and hope this waking-up call would lead you to do some  thing for your shares.                Love,   Mom & Dad

With a community spirit like this, its impact will go way beyond just the saving of the PAC.  80-20 PAC is only a political weapon.  Ultimately, when we show the wisdom and the fighting spirit to maintain this weapon to defend ourselves, then few will dare to tread on us!

When the going gets rough, the tough gets going!

80-20 PAC shall sadly cease all operations, if SELF fails.

Dear Fellow Asian Americans:

Please accept my deepest apology.  It is my sad duty to inform you that
the Boards of 80-20 voted unanimously to  cease the operation of 80-20
PAC on Oct. 25, 2015, should SELF fail to reach its goal of raising $1
million per yr. and 5 yrs., as  anticipated.    This decision is final.

We want to THANK those of you who have

read and forwarded many of 80-20's e-newsletters,
responded to some of 80-20's calls-to-actions,
               joined as PAC members, and
donated generously and selflessly to SELF.

We are NOT giving up on saving the PAC.   We still hope that once our
community  knows that PAC SHALL DEFINITELY die if SELF fails, AsAms
may yet in the remaining 3.5 months open their pocketbooks and help SELF
reach its goals.  We know that the chance of a last  minute rescue is small,
probably  less than 1 in 10.  However, we'll still do our best.

DONATE to SELF, Self Empowerment Longterm Fund.

Many of you, who have worked hard to serve AsAms by saving PAC, may want to know more  DETAILS of our decision.  We owe you that.  They are provided as FOOTNOTES, below my  signature.

Sincerely yours,
 S.B. Woo

President, a volunteer for the past 16 years,
The 80-20 Initiative.

FOOTNOTES:

(1) What does the Demise of PAC mean?

PAC  shall cease all its activities, including endorsing or opposing any political candidates, but its website shall be kept alive  by 80-20  EF.  We want to remind the AsAm community how much we together got  done, with our puny resources.
In addition, the current Life Members list and  Membership list will remain proudly in display.  The AsAm community should  remember the names of these valiant persons  who have scarified greatly to keep  PAC alive for 16 years.

(2) Donation to SELF Refunded in Full, If Requested

Should the anticipated eventuality happen, EF shall keep its promise to refund all donations in FULL, if requested.  After Oct. 25, 2015, EF shall send 2 emails
and one postal mail (certified to those who have donated $1,000 or more) to donors inquiring if he/she desires a refund and where 80-20 shall send a check to.

(3) Details of 80-20's Decision Process and Procedure

First, the Board of EF voted unanimously to inform the Board of PAC that SELF would  likely fail.  As a result,  EF could not have the resources to hire highly qualified staff, to be trained  by S. B. Woo, whom PAC may share for its needs during election seasons.  In response. PAC deemed  that  without highly qualified staff, PAC cannot be effective in the rough and  tumble world of election politics , after S. B. Woo has retired.   Therefore, PAC's Board has voted  unanimously to cease all operations on Oct. 25, 2015, if SELF fails.

As the president of both EF and PAC, I bear the largest responsibility for the anticipated demise  of 80-20.  My deepest apology to you all.
