CLARION CALL (II) -- half a million raised

   The clarion has sounded. Charge!

Thanks to all of you, the total raised in 2.5 days, since the CLARION CALL (I) was issued, is $550,000. Of those,
          (1) about $16,000 are in lump sums, and
          (2) about $107,000 are in per yr. for 5 years.

Therefore, over a 5 year period, we have already raised (lump sums + 5 x donations per year) = $550,000. Verify it for yourself at the Acknowledgement Page.

Money talks. We have a great start. Now please help make our money talk even louder! We HOPE TO REACH $ 140,000/yr for 5 years BY THE END OF THE WEEK!!! EXTRA: 80-20 PAC is now discussing the Jimmy Kimmel matter with Walt Disney/ABC. We'll keep you posted.

NOTICE: After your donation, you'll receive a "Thank you for tax purposes" letter from 80-20EF, please forward it to your friends.

We must spread the word to people who are NOT currently on our email list. That'll be the only way to reach the minimal EMPOWERING amount of $1 million/yr for 5 years quickly. Tell your friends that we need to make our money talk for us! If we don't reach that oak within two years, your donation will be refunded in full.

CLARION CALL TO ACTION -- sacrifice & donate

                     CLARION CALL TO ACTION !
80-20 calls on all Asian Americans to sacrifice and donate to an Asian American Self-Empowerment Fund.

On our watch, friends, our children face the HIGHEST barrier against them in college admissions. Our adults face the LOWEST glass ceiling against them in workplaces. Does that reflect on us? Will our children be proud of us with those facts?

We MUST pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps! Self reliance is infinitely more reliable than dependence on others. God helps those who help themselves. Doing your share to help establish the Self Empowerment Long-term Fund project, SELF, is the best way to achieve self help!

If your family has an annual income of $100k/yr, we urge you to donate at least $100/yr for 5 years. Many families with lesser annual income are donating that amount or $50. To donate with a credit card (you do NOT need to be a Paypal member to use this Paypal site), click on http://admin.80-20nj.info/cgi/80/e?l=8/au/1/f&w=no .

Or send a check, payable to 80-20 EF, to
                 Lynn Chen-Zhang, CPA
                 7596 Oak Shore South
                 Portage, MI 49024

Your donation is tax deductible. You'll have many privileges, including having input into the usage of the fund. Click here for more details.

80-20 believes that we'll be able to raise, within 1 year, the minimal EMPOWERING amount of $1 million/yr for 5 yrs.

In any respect, you have nothing to lose, everything to gain. If we fail to raise, within 2 yrs., $1 million/yr for 5 yrs, your donation will be refunded in FULL. 80-20 has already set up an escrow bank account. If we succeed, then the socio-political benefit you'll gain will be many times that of your donation.

Actually, 80-20 aims to raise $10 million/yr for 5 yrs within 2 years. We'll use "our money to talk for us" while using 80-20's "political know-how" to help our offspring to stand TALL, ONCE & for ALL.

For those who earn much more than $100k/yr., we urge you to tithe -- to donate 1 to 3% of your annual income to the SELF project.

My annual income is slightly above $100k/yr. I've donated 5% to 80-20's two components, EF and PAC. A role model, an "anonymous", has pledged $120,000 over the next 2 years. Another Asian Am. from Houston, TX, pledged $2,500/yr, believe it or not, for 8 yrs. Go visit our "Acknowledgement Page", you'll see the names of tens of individuals who've donated $1,000/yr or more for 5 yrs. You may know some of them.

   Click on http://admin.80-20nj.info/cgi/80/e?l=8/au/1/f&w=no NOW!

Please do your share! God helps those who help themselves. Let our children know that we fight for them.

THANK YOU!

How 80-20 fights for our children - 2 recent examples

First Example - Recent Legal Action

4 days ago, 80-20 EF filed an amicus brief with the 5th Circuit Court, which the Supreme Court has asked to re-consider its decision supporting the Univ. of TX in "Fisher vs. Univ. of TX." To read our brief, Click here , and go to item 8. 80-20 of course supports "race-neutral" college admissions.

The current "race-conscious" admissions policy grossly discriminates against our children. So much so that many of our children have chosen not to identify themselves as Asian Ams in college applications -- a shameful reflection on us, their elders.

80-20 EF co-filed this amicus brief with the Asian Am. Legal Foundation (AALF) of San Francisco.

AALF is not to be confused with the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) of Los Angeles, which has gone out of its way, filing amicus briefs supporting "race-conscious" admissions. After 80-20 publicly challenged APALC on this issue, it has become relatively quiet. We hope and pray that APALC has changed its mind. If so, 80-20 will be delighted and privileged to work with APALC on this and other issues.

Second Example - Taking on SELF

80-20's best effort for our children and YOU is its Self Empowerment Long-term Fund project, SELF. It aims to raise, within 2 years, at least $1 million per year for 5 years. Afterwards, we aim to expand it to be a
$10 million/yr for 5 yrs project. 80-20 EF's Board, after much polling & empirical testing of its fund-raising ability, has approved the project.

Money talks. From hereon, 80-20's political skills will be complemented with having money to talk for us also.

Why hasn't 80-20 told you where to donate yet? We are thoroughly testing our donation website -- we can't make the same mistake that the federal government is making in "Obama Care." :-)

Please forward this email to your AsAm friends. To post your comments, click here.

Why the Self Empowerment Long-term Fund?

As the acronym SELF implies, it may signify that henceforth Asian Ams possess the self-confidence, wisdom, courage and the caring for justice and equal opportunity to put up OUR OWN money in order to fight OUR OWN battles to WIN OUR RIGHTS.

                             What Will SELF Bring Us?

(1) Clout

Reliance on 80-20's political know-how, with a shoestring budget, can only go so far. Money is required to complement that political know-how. Money talks.

(2) Pride

"USA Today" reported that many Asian Am youngsters chose NOT to identify themselves as Asian Ams when applying for college admissions. They seemed to sense that to be Asian Ams means to be stepped on, with our community helplessly watching without a fight. To verify that shameful reflection on us, click here. When we have the clout to fight effectively for our youngster's equal opportunity, their pride in their heritage and their elders will return.

                     A Board Decision Coming soon!

In 6 days, 80-20 EF's Board will meet to decide if our community seems to have what it takes to take on this immensely difficult, precedent-breaking and history-making SELF project. 80-20 and you are parts of the same community. 80-20 is only as strong as you are!
