"China .. 5,000 yr history of cheating ..", Sen. Blackburn of TN

 OUTRAGEOUS Insult To All Chinese Americans 

     On Dec. 3, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, TN, tweeted "China has a 5,000

year history of cheating and stealing. Some things will never change…”

     80-20 learned about it 4 days later. The next day, we emailed and faxed Sen. Blackburn and called her office to confirm that they've received both. 3 days ago, we called her office to urge a reply and hinted that, without a reply, we'll go public and take further action.

GOING PUBLIC: Our Email/Fax to Sen. Blackburn

  ^{Dear Senator Blackburn: We write you as citizens of this great nation. We are not} 

^{connected with any foreign nations. We, the 5 million Chinese Americans, are}

^{outraged that you insulted our country of origin by stating “China has a 5,000 year} 

^{history of cheating and stealing. Some things will never change …” Which respected}

^{historian or history book did you quote from, or at least get the idea from?  We’ll be}

^{interested in knowing your reference.}

   ^{If you made it up yourself, you have insulted not only the 5 million Chinese}

^{Americans, but also the 1.45 billion people of Chinese origin on earth. The emotion}

^{in our community is running extremely high. I've even heard wild talk about starting}

^{a world-wide boycott of Tennessee exports, including Jack Daniels. Heaven forbid,}

^{this kind of talk can also get China thinking about its imports from your great state of}

^{TN which is composed of basic chemicals, chemical products, cars, agricultural} 

^{products and services.}

   ^{Enraged as we are, we are for all Americans working together.  If you made the}

^{above statement in anger or in haste, please let me know that you are withdrawing}

^{the above-referenced statement and apologize to the Chinese American community.} 

^{We are Board Members of by far the largest Asian American political organization.} 

^{We have an email list of 200,000, which can reach more than half a million Chinese}

^{Americans to quickly smooth the emotion before it gets out of hand. That way, we can}

^{all use our time and energy more productively.}

CALL TO ACTION

     If we can't get Sen. Blackburn to withdraw her utterance: "China has a 5,000 year history of cheating and stealing. Some things will never change…", then you and I will be the biggest losers. Why? Your co-workers and neighbors, together with your children's teachers and classmates may gradually come to believe that we are cheaters and thieves. Remember that she said, "Some things will never change…" So join the action!

       Don't write a composition. Send something short like the following. Of course, using your own words will be even more effective.

   Sen. Blackburn: I & my family have been grievously hurt by your statement

   emotionally & perhaps career-wise. Yet, I hesitate to advocate a boycott

   against you & .... Please withdraw your statement & apologize to the 5

   million Chinese Americans of this great country.  My name is xxx, City, State.



Do your share NOW! I count on YOU. Please reply to me with DONE in the subject line. When I receive 500 "DONEs", hopefully TODAY, I will call her to reason as fellow Americans. Without satisfaction, we'll take more action.
