80-20 has 3 high paying jobs open

Not jobs but CALLINGS

Best staff leads to Strongest 80-20, leads to Best service for YOU.  Help encourage the best and brightest to apply.

Family members of SELF donors and PAC members are particularly welcome, as are OVER-qualified retired professionals who seek a chance to serve the community, because it is an honor to serve.

Among people who worked for S.B. are one current Governor, one US Senator and one Attorney General of Delaware, and one CEO of a media company.  They all used to work for "peanuts for the honor to serve the people and community.

     80-20 Initiative is looking for
1) one Executive Director,
2) one Associate or Assistant Executive Director, and
3) an Executive Assistant.

80-20 looks for applicants who are among the best and want to make a difference in helping Asian Ams win equal opportunity and in that process help make America "a better union" - not jobs but callings!

Pay:  High, with health insurance.  An Executive Assistant will draw the pay of a post doctoral in science.  If health insurance is not needed, then higher pay.

Location: Your home.  80-20 is a cyberspace org.  One has to be extremely self-motivated, without colleagues or supervisors patting you on your shoulder daily.  Supervision done through emails or phone.

Hours:  Could be long.  At least 40 hours per week is expected.  Assuming that all assignments are completed, staff is still expected to find ways to contribute to the Asian American community, using guidelines from your supervisors.  Politics knows no days/nights/weekends, but you may interact with VIPs in business and politics at very high levels.

Qualifications:  One's track record of devotion to the Asian Am. cause and the ability to get difficult jobs done will speak the loudest.  If no track record,  then we'll evaluate your paper qualifications.

Upward mobility:  Unlimited!  An Executive Assistant could quickly rise to become the Executive Director or the President of 80-20 Initiative.  Quality of service is the only measure.

Performance:  Very high performance is expected.  S. B. Woo may still be considered a workaholic even at age 78.

Application:  No references are required until an applicant is on the short list. Find out about 80-20 before you apply by visiting www.80-20Initiative.net and www.80-20EF.org.  Otherwise, one's application will be ignored.  You can send your application to S. B. together with a cover letter.

Still We Need To Do Our Share

Gathering Momentum

The US Commission on Civil Rights, a bipartisan commission, has by a majority vote decided to request DOJ for an investigation regarding the questionable prosecution of Sherry Chen, Prof. Xiaoxing Xi and others.
Click here to see its letter.  Media report:  http://prn.to/1ObYx40.

God Helps Those Who Help Themselves

We need to do our part.  The first thing YOU can do is to FORWARD 80-20's emails on this matter to your friends.   Thank you.  :-)  More good news will be coming!

NY Times & WashPost Condemn DOJ

Heed the Warnings.

2 Prestigious Newspapers Spoke Out Against DOJ

As early as a month ago, NY Times published a strongly worded editorial entitled "The Rush to Find China's Moles" condemning DOJ's abuse of government power which ruined the lives of innocent Chinese Americans.

"F.B.I. agents and federal prosecutors appear to have acted with reckless haste.. . . . But these concerns [of threats from Chin] cannot justify prosecutions driven by supposition rather than solid evidence. The charges filed against Mr. Xi and Ms. Chen traumatized them and their families and needlessly damaged their professional reputations. Neither got an explanation or an apology from the government. They deserve both."

A few days ago, on November 12, Washington Post published an "opinion", entitled  "Chinese-Americans are being caught mistakenly in  in the U.S.'s cybercrime dragnet" by Peter Zeidenberg.  It stated,
"And while the danger posed by Chinese agents may indeed be real, so is the danger of overreacting to it  . . . prosecutors have proceeded as if wearing blinders, . . . plowing ahead with prosecutions that should  never have been brought. . . innocent U.S. citizens have been victimized by their government . . . had their employment and livelihoods threatened and been forced to pay for legal defenses that could easily bankrupt anyone of modest means."
Peter Zeidebberg is the lawyer for both Sherry Chen & Prof. Xiaoxing Xi.  80-20 likes to use this opportunity to salute Peter for standing up for justice.

Who Understands More About US Politics???

It is highly unusual that 2 of the most prestigious newspapers in the US, known for their deep understanding of US government and politicscondemn the US government, one publishing an EDITORIAL and the other an OPINION.  They probably realize that many new immigrants from China don't understand the "norm" of US governmental practices.  80-20 deeply appreciates their warnings to the Chinese Am. community.  Notice the words used in their respective condemnations "reckless haste", "danger", and "victimized by their government."  Wake up!  FORWARD this to your friends.

A Senator Steps In To Back Us

DOJ Can Ruin Any Chinese-Am’s Life, IF we let it.

Senator and another Congressman Step in to Back us

Yesterday, you heard from 80-20 that 42 Congresspersons wrote A.G. Lynch  asking DOJ to do an independent investigation of FBI's seeming targeting of Chinese Americans.

Today, the first Senator Tom Carper of Delaware, a great friend* of the AsAm community, has stepped in to share the concerns of the Chinese American community. He and Congressman John Carney, DE, have jointly sent a letter to A.G. Lynch and copied to FBI Director James Comey.

     "Dear Attorney General Lynch,

We write to relay concerns voiced to us by Delaware's Chinese-American community regarding the recent espionage charges filed and dropped against National Weather Service employee, Sherry Chen, and Temple University Professor of Physics, Dr. Xi Xiaoxing. . .

. . . They voice valid concerns that the arrests outlined in this letter appear to signal the deliberate targeting of Chinese-Americans by the Department of Justice and FBI, with suspicion based largely on their Chinese heritage, rather than factual evidence signaling  intent or reason for espionage.  . . . .

. . . . we ask that you keep in mind the Golden Rule and, also, be sensitive to the impact that wrongful arrests have on the Chinese- American community in Delaware and across the country. "

Sen. Carper & Cong. Carney wanted to be sure that their letter arrived in A.G. Lynch's office BEFORE a meeting between Lynch and leaders of the House AsAm Caucus takes place today.  It is to lend support to our Caucus leaders and our cause.  It lets A.G.Lynch know that the concerns had spread to the US Senate.

                                 Imagine!

      S. B. Woo will be meeting with Sen. Chris Coons of DE this Friday regarding this issue.  He hopes that Sen. Coons will also soon sign this letter.  Should that happen, it will mean that the entire Congressional Delegation of Delaware** will be sharing the concerns of the Chinese Am. community.  Imagine!  What if the remaining states also have their senators and congresspersons expressing such view.  EVERY GOOD
Chinese American has to do their share to STOP this apparent pattern of targeting Chinese Ams.   It is UN-American.  It weakens America.

Many years ago, Senator Tom Carper also read 80-20's full page ad in Washington Post regarding the lowest glass ceiling above Asian Ams into the Congressional record.

** Delaware has 2 senators and only 1 Congressperson.

Salute to Leadership of 2 AsAm Congresspersons

DOJ can ruin any Chinese-Am's Life, IF We Let It

Exemplary Political Leadership & Accountability

80-20 SALUTES two AsAm Congresspersons, Ted Lieu (CA 33) and Julie Chu (CA 27).  They exercised political leadership to speak out for us and took effective actions.  They organized 42 Congresspersons to jointly request an independent DOJ investigation into whether there were race and national origin profiling in FBI's of Chinese Americans.  There were bungled investigations in 10 months, which ruined the lives of 4 Chinese Am families.

Lieu and Chu induced the chairs of other minority caucuses in the House to join them in their request.   That is a beautiful piece of political work that 80-20 deeply appreciates.   Read their press release of Nov. 5:
"In response to the cases of Sherry ChenProfessor Xi Xiaoxing and other similar cases, Congressman Ted W. Lieu (D | Los Angeles County) has sent a letter to Attorney General of the United States Loretta Lynch requesting that the Department of Justice (DOJ) open a full investigation into whether race, ethnicity or national origin played a part in recent instances where Asian Americans have been wrongfully arrested and indicted for alleged espionage only to have those charges later dropped.
Specifically, Congressman Lieu, co-leads Congresswoman Judy Chu and Congressman Keith Ellison, and their Congressional colleagues are requesting that DOJ address why there appears to be an ongoing pattern and practice of people of color being singled out by federal law enforcement and prosecutors.
The letter is co-signed by the Chair and Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus, the Chairs of the Progressive Caucus, the Chairs of the Asian Pacific American Caucus, the Chair of the Hispanic Caucus, the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and 33 other members of the House. (Above emphasis added.)
In the letter, Mr. Lieu and his Congressional colleagues write:
"We, therefore, reiterate the request for a full investigation by the DOJ into the cases of Ms. Chen, Dr. Xi, and other similar cases regarding whether race or ethnicity played a role.  We also request that the DOJ conduct a full investigation regarding why it appears there is a pattern and practice of minorities being singled out for arrest and indictment by federal officials.   We look forward to working with you to address these concerns and reassure the American public that our government is adequately protecting the civil rights of all Americans. The full text of the letter can be found here."

Don't Relax.  No Tangible Result Yet.

No tangible result from the above letter yet.  A similar letter from many of the same Congresspersons (22 in number that time) only got a pro forma reply from A.G. Lynch.  However, the above action together with the efforts of 80-20, mentioned in our last e-newsletter, are all percolating in D.C.

Until this apparent abuse of power by DOJ is stopped, every good AsAm must pitch in with his/her own effort.  UNITE!  UNITY is the salvation for ALL AsAms.  Don't be short-sighted. DOJ can ruin YOUR lives tomorrow, if we let it.

DOJ Can Ruin Any Chinese-American's Life

DOJ Can Ruin Any Chinese-American's Life

                 Must Fight Back

If you are a Chinese-American, and if you visit China sometimes and interact with Chinese nationals sometimes, that is, if you are like most Chinese Americans, then YOUR life can be RUINED, if our Department of "JUSTICE" wishes it.   Don't believe it?   Click here to read an earlier 80-20 e-newsletter entitled "Be Highly Alarmed".

DOJ has already ruined 4 Chinese Am. scientists' lives.  Recently 80-20 became aware of a new case, when two biologists who worked for Eli Lilly were accused of stealing trade secrets, and then the case was suddenly dropped after 15 months.  One of them had already been incarcerated for 205 days.  What a shame that DOJ dropped 3 cases against Chinese American scientists within 10 months for lack of evidence, after having grievously ruined their lives.

Why is DOJ Making such Mistakes Repeatedly?

Incompetence?  Or Department of "Justice" wanted to create a "chilling effect " to scare Chinese Americans from visiting China and/or interacting with Chinese citizens.  The latter violates US Constitution.

                  Whose Fault Was it?

Since such wanton ruining of U.S. citizens' lives started AFTER Pres. Obama advocated aggressive investigation and prosecution of anyone stealing U.S. secrets, a policy that 80-20 supports, Pres. Obama is responsible.  He apparently forgot to instruct DOJ that such a policy is NEITHER a license for DOJ to practice racial and national origin profiling NOR to stop exercising "due diligence" before handcuffing and incarcerating law-abiding citizens. If DOJ's intention is to create  a "chilling effect" to scare us from exercising our legal rights, then Pres. Obama has severely failed in his political leadership.  Since Obama is a Democrat, we'll have to remember these incidents when election time rolls around.

What has 80-20 done to deter incompetence or chilling effect?
     Plenty!  80-20 has contacted

       (a) U.S. senators,
       (b) current sub-cabinet level appointed AsAm officials, and
       (c) AsAm Congresspersons like Cong. Ted Lieu

to ask them to strongly speak out against this stupefying pattern of behavior by the DOJ. They have all responded very positively to 80-20's request. Their efforts are percolating in D.C.   When time is ripe, their magnificent efforts and results will be told in our e-newsletters.

The irony is that all of them are also Democrats.  So 80-20 will not rule out supporting the next Democratic presidential nominee at this point.  But we want the Republican Party to know that 80-20 is extremely disappointed with the Obama Administration on these matters.

Something sinister seems to be going on.  Be Highly Alarmed!  We must take UNITED action to be really effective.  Email me to share your view, and please FORWARD.
