week ago, the U.S. Senate held a public hearing on complaints of top-flight gymnasts against the FBI's failures in its investigation of Dr. Larry Nassar, who sexually abused many underaged gymnasts. After their testimonies, FBI Director Wray was asked to testify before the Senate also. He apologized profusely to the victims and to the nation.

He stated twice such mistakes would "NEVER happen again!"

How could Director Wray be so certain? Did he pound his desk and propose an FBI-wide sensitivity training program for agents to listen to female
complaints seriously? NO! He FIRED the wrongful agent! Click here to hear
Director Wray's statement in a video, starting at 5:00.

Should the same be done against FBI agents,
who intentionally incriminated Persons of Chinese Origin?

80-20 President, S. B. Woo, is in the process of writing FBI Director Wray to suggest that the FBI fire the agents who incriminated Prof. Hu in order to ensure that such intentional wrongful prosecution against persons of Chinese origin will "NEVER happen again".

The Intentional Wrongful Acts of FBI agent Kujtim Sadiku

I don't think you need reminding. If you do, here are exact quotes from a Knox News article about the intentional wrongful acts of Kujtim Sadiku.

"FBI Agent Kujtim Sadiku admitted last week in an ongoing trial in Knoxville that federal agents:

  •      Falsely accused former UTK associate professor Dr. Anming Hu of
            being a Chinese spy.
  •      Falsely implicated him as an operative for the Chinese military in
            meetings with Hu’s bosses.
  •      Used false information to put Hu on the federal no-fly list.
  •      Spurred U.S. customs agents to seize Hu’s computer and phone and
spread word throughout the international research community that HU
            was poison.
  •      Used false information to justify putting a team of agents to spy on Hu
and his son, a freshman at UTK, for nearly two years.
  •      Used false information to press Hu to become a spy for the U.S.
            government."

Shall the Chinese American community be so timid as to accept such
intentional wrongful acts against us, without requesting FBI Director Wray to fire that agent? I want to hear YOUR view! Be our role model and speak up! The person you will have helped by speaking up could be YOU yourself and/or YOUR children.

Patching 2 Holes in Our Political Maturity

Patching 2 Holes in Our Political Maturity

Hole One:

Many Asians worship government officials - the higher the rank, the more unreasoning and unquestioning the worship. Asian Americans should not follow this Asian tradition. Unfortunately, many of us still do.

Accepting this feudal Asian tradition has hurt us in 2 ways:
    (1) Many AsAm elected officials were not working hard for our rightful interests. For example, almost none of the elected AsAm state Senators and Assembly-persons in CA showed up to defend our children's equal opportunity to college admissions. They voted to allow a referendum vote on Prop. 16. Eventually, Prop.16 was defeated because 80-20 helped lead the opposition from afar, defeating Prop. 16 by a landslide - 53% to 47%.
    (2) Our love & respect for elected AsAm officials should be based on their SERVICE to our community, not their ranks. Otherwise, we are encouraging these officials to focus on seeking higher offices to win my admiration rather than performing better service.

Recommended Remedy: Treat our elected AsAm officials as our public servants, not as parent-officials, which Confucian philosophy advocated millennia ago. Reward our public servants for good service. Punish them for significant deficiencies.

Hole Two:

For unknown reasons, AsAm civic organizations have consistently treated victims of our government's shameful racial profiling policy, as heroes once the victims have been acquitted. We should NOT!

The black community often treated the victims of civil right movements, whether murdered, beaten or jailed, as heroes. But these victims were normally fierce fighters, who knowingly risked imprisonment or even death for the civil rights of their community.

Our victims, be they Wenho Lee, Sherry Chen, Prof. Xiaoxing Xi, or Dr. Anming Hu are scientists who have not knowingly risked themselves for the benefit of our community, but who unfortunately were racially profiled by some incompetent FBI agents. We should help them financially, morally and legally and get them acquitted. However, if we treat our acquitted victims as heroes, then we must face the following outrageous irony: our community allows incompetent FBI agents to pick our community's heroes.

Recommended Remedy: Don't treat our race-profiled AsAm victims as heroes. They were unfortunate. They deserve our sympathy and help but not admiration.

A Request

Do you find discussions about improving our political maturity interesting & helpful? Either way please give me some feedback. Many thanks.

Boston Mayoral Primary on Sept. 14

We wish our endorsed candidate Michelle Wu good luck on that day.

Justice Achieved! Anming Hu Acquitted.

Justice Achieved: Prof. Anming Hu acquitted on all 3 charges

How did 80-20 help to turn things around?

We didn't do it alone. We worked with Anming's lawyer, Phil Lomonaco, political officials including our nation's Attorney General, and other like-minded AsAm orgs.* Following is how 80-20 turned this outrageous injustice into justice achieved and victory.

(1)    First, we broadcast the injustice:

On 6/21/2180-20's first e-newsletter about the plight of Prof. Hu & his family was published: Wrongful acts of FBI agents violate our rights80-20 requested the 180,000 AsAms on our e-mail list to forward the news of this injustice to their friends. I personally contacted Sens. Chris Coons, Tom Carper, and Tammy Duckworth, attaching the above e-newsletter. I also wrote to Attorney General Garland, but didn't publish its contents.

Sen. Carper forwarded my electronic letter to the A.G. and requested to be copied in when the A.G. would reply to Woo. Sen. Coons and Duckworth each wrote directly to the A.G., requesting a reply from the A.G. and copied Woo in.

80-20, being deeply aware of the plight of Prof. HU's family, donated $10,000 and urged all AsAms to donate to demonstrate the spirit of a close-knit family.

(2)    Next, 80-20 patiently let its political seeds incubate & grow

Another 4 weeks later, more than $40K from 80-20 supporters have been donated to Hu's family. Even more important was that DOJ began to respond positively. Read Making Progress with the DOJ (08/02/2021)By today DOJ has already dismissed 11 cases against Chinese scientists, since receiving Woo's letter.
80-20 took pains to pass the very positive feedback from the 3 Senators and the seemingly encouraging actions of DOJ's to Hu's lawyer Phil. We knew that Phil, knowing how politics works in America, will make good use of such info and spread it around TN's legal circle.

(3) We Harvest what our community has toiled to produce

On 7/30/2021 Phil Lomonaco filed a motion for Judgment of acquittal. Yesterday, on 9/9/21, the good United States District Judge Thomas A. Varlan acquitted Anming Hu on all charges.

This entire struggle took 2.5 months for 80-20. Justice won. Together, we shall overcome.

Want 80-20 to LIVE LONGER
to provide service to your offspring???

Please DONATE yourself & forward this email to your friends who have big generous hearts.

* Some AsAm orgs. focused on getting rid of DOJ's "China Initiative" program
which investigates many Chinese scientists. 80-20 didn't. 80-20 sees "China Initiative" as an inevitable by-product of the current US-China relations. 80-20 chooses to focus on defeating any injustice befallen on AsAms.
