UGLY facts on discrimination against AsAm youth

The most complete documentation of UGLY discrimination against Asian American youth
Here is a complete account of the ugly discrimination against AsAm youngsters by elite colleges, including a number of NEW discoveries. These colleges are using the nobility of diversity as a cover to give an illegal advantage to white applicants over AsAms, thereby imposing an illegal quota on the number of AsAm students admitted. Read item 2) carefully.
1)  DISCRIMINATION at the Graduate School Entrance Level:
The following table is published by the Am. Assoc. of Medical Colleges (AAMC). The info in the first 10 columns shows that the acceptance rate for AsAm applicants is always the lowest in 9 different combinations of comparable MCAT score & GPA, lower even than their white peers. The info. in the last 2 columns on the right show that the average AsAm MCATs score is the HIGHEST among all races, and yet they are accepted at the LOWEST rates among all races. Outrageous!

The bar chart below, based on the info shown in the above table, illustrates the glaring differences in admission rates.

The desire for diversity and the intent of the Affirmative Action Program causes the higher acceptance rate of Hispanic & Black applicants with comparable academic achievements, which most AsAms understand and embrace. However, why are AsAms given a lower acceptance rate than white peers? Isn't that the REVERSE of Affirmative Action?

2)  DISCRIMINATION at the College Entrance Level:

In Table 3.5 on p 92 of Princeton Prof. Espenshade's famous book, "No Longer Separate, Not Yet Equal", the following shocking
fact was revealed:

Table 3.5 (emphasis added)
Race Admission Preferences at Public & Private Institutions Measured in ACT & SAT Points, Fall 1997
     ----------------------------------------------------
            Public Institutions          Private Institutions
         ACT-Point Equivalents   SAT-Point Equivalents
Item            (out of 36)                    (out of 1600)
  -------------------------------------------------------------------
  Race
    (White)         --                              --
    Black            3.8                          310
    Hispanics     0.3                          130
    Asian           -3.4                        -140

For the sake of diversity, we do embrace the idea of granting extra points to the ACT & SAT scores of blacks and Hispanics -- we would add even more, if needed.  However, why are 140 SAT pts. taken away from AsAm applicants? To give the white applicants an advantage of 140 SAT pts. over the historically disadvantaged AsAms by using the nobility of diversity as a cover? This is the reverse of affirmative action. This is a gross abuse of affirmation action. This is outrageous discrimination.

We estimate that the AsAm admits into the Ivy Leagues colleges would be about 25%, not 18%, if AsAms were not deceitfully forced to yield 140 pts to whites.
3)  DISCRIMINATION - a cabal to impose ILLEGAL quota on AsAms?

On page 203 of Ron Unz' book, entitled The Myth of American Meritocracy, the following diagram was shown.  It was based on data released by the National Center for Education Statistics.
The black dotted line shows that the number of college aged AsAms in our population has approximately doubled over a recent 20 year period. The red solid line indicates the % of AsAm students at the California Institute of Technology where "race preference" admission is not permitted, tracks that increase.
In strong contrast, the Ivy League colleges converge to 16% +/- 3% AsAms students..  It smells of an Ivy League cabal against AsAm students.

4)  Cowardly DISCRIMINATION against the weak & disorganized
Some may say AsAms are only 6% of the national population, 16 +/- 3% is already too many. Really? Are they advocating a quota, which the Supreme Court ruled as illegal? America's ideal is meritocracy.

Jewish Americans comprise only 2% of the national population. Look at the % of their youngsters in the Ivies, as reported by The Jerusalem Post.
Yale:         27% (1,500 Jewish undergrads out of 5,477 total),
    Harvard:   25% (1,675 out of 6,694 undergrads),
    Cornell:     21% (3000 out of 14315), and
    Columbia: 35% (3000 out of 8,613).
Further internet research reveals the following:

    Penn: 25%

Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown: 13% to 20%
Nay, the Ivies have only courage to step on those whom they see as weak and unorganized. It is cowardly discrimination.
5) Harvard's "Holistic Evaluation" is a Charade.  The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars tells annually that AsAms are not Nerdy:
Harvard has never defined its "holistic evaluation."   It fought tooth and nail to keep its admissions records secret.  What is Harvard afraid of? How about practicing the transparency, which Harvard preaches to its students and the rest of the nation so frequently?
Fortunately, another group also performs a holistic evaluation of high school graduates annually.  The esteemed  "White House Commission on Presidential Scholarsevaluates  all high school graduates "on academic achievement, personal characteristics, leadership, service, and other extracurricular activities, and an analysis of their essays."
The Presidential Scholars Award Program, where clearly defined holistic evaluation is used, has named AsAms to 28% of their finalists spots averaged over the last 15 years. Over that same period, AsAms have made up only 18% of Harvard's admissions.
Shame on you, Harvard.  Your holistic evaluation is a charade in order to place a quota on AsAm students, just as you did against Jewish students decades ago.
6)  3 Supreme Court Justices also saw DISCRIMINATION:
Supreme Court Justices J. Alito, John Roberts and Clarence Thomas stated in their dissent, issued on June 23, 2016 (pp 22 -27):
"...  discriminates against Asian American students...including racial discrimination that undeniably harms Asian Ams ... the court's willingness to allow this discrimination against individuals of Asian descent is particularly troubling, in light of the long history of discrimination against Asian Americans, especially in education ... In particular, the Fifth Circuit's willful blindness to Asian-American students is absolutely shameless." (emphasis added)
7)  How 80-20 EF Sees Things:
On Ivy League colleges: These institutions are superior in numerous ways. However, they have committed discrimination against AsAm students, and have practiced hypocrisy and deceitfulness with their decision to favor white students over their AsAm peers. It is a very shortsighted policy, possibly induced by racism and self-conceit. History will not be kind to the presidents of these colleges, who participated in this apparent cabal.

On AsAm community: Our community is definitely at fault as well. We have the average educational level and financial strength to understand the seriousness of this discrimination against our children. We have the generational responsibility to urgently put our assets together to fight against it. But we have not been able to get our act together yet

History will not be kind to us, and will possibly be very harsh on those families who donated tens and hundreds of million dollars to get a Harvard building named after themselves. Those ignorant and vain acts will be seen as marks of shame on those families.

Let me hear from you please. Does this e-newsletter improve your understanding of the admissions issue & how our children are suffering?

New Proof of Discrimination Against AsAm Students

New & Powerful Proof of Discrimination Against AsAms
The following diagram is about ACCEPTANCE rates.  Students of very similar performance, shown in 3 different combinations of MCAT & GPA, experience very different acceptance rates.  Asian applicants have the lowest acceptance rates in all 3 cases, consistently lower than even those of their white peers.
To achieve diversity is to let Hispanic & black peers have an advantage. 80-20 is for that.  However, why do Asian applicants have to yield to white peers?  For minorities like Asians to be forced to yield to white peers is the RESERVE of Affirmative Action.  The extreme abuse of affirmative Action is proof possible that AsAms are being DISCRIMINATED!
See below for a bar chart released by the American Enterprise Institute, based on a table released by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) .
Asian Am. parents often proudly talk about how they are willing to sacrifice for their children's education.  Do they?   So many of them don't even dare to speak up against the open discrimination against their children, much less organizing to fight against the discrimination in college admissions.

Too many AsAms are too timid.  Look at 80-20, we have always stuck our necks out to achieve justice and equal opportunity for all.  We are NOT in trouble at all.   Wake up, AsAms.  The bar chart shows the the discrimination against our educational opportunity has EXTENDED to GRADUATE SCHOOLS.  Step up and be counted!

Texas to stop "race preference" admissions.   Click here to hear a powerful 2 :28 minute video message by Blum and a young AsAm lawyer, Cory Liu

If you had followed Mr. Blum's lawsuits closely, you would have noticed that his lawsuits are increasingly focused on the discrimination against AsAm students.

Shame on our financially well-off community, which sat by and let Blum fight for us.  Our rich individuals, who gave tens to hundreds of millions of dollars to Harvard for naming a building after themselves, should particularly feel this shame.

80-20 EF is doing its best to assist Blum.  80-20 EF has increased its annual contribution to SFFA from $5,000/yr to  $10,000/yr. and strived to recruit members for SFFA.   Let's all try to do more.

Students who have recently been rejected by UT are urged to contact Blum and Liu via  http://www.studentsforfairadmission.org.

Are you a parent of students who belong to ECAASU (East Coast Asian American Student Union)?  That organization supports "race-preference" admissions.  Please forward this email to them.  Call to discuss with them the difference between supporting diversity versus giving white peers advantages over AsAm students.  Even the editorial board of Harvard's student paper, Crimsonquestioned why AsAm applicants need to yield 140 SAT points to white peers in order to gain equal access to elite colleges.
Some of the ECASSU members will be applying for medical schools.  Tell them to wake up, they will be discriminated against in their application to Graduate schools.

A Good Program for AsAm High School (HS) Students
Your relatives in high schools may love this program. They will do meaningful volunteer work for 80-20, earn a beautiful certificate and perhaps win a higher award. The certificate should be helpful in their application for admissions to colleges. Nowadays, colleges strongly favor applicants with volunteer experience for non-profit organizations in their resume.
Every HS volunteer gets a certificate.  Some may get an award.
    Click on http://www.80-20ef.org/youth.php to see
a) how to apply,
b) how much time and work will meet the minimum standard to get a certificate, and
c) the different levels of awards.  The top award is a certificate plus a cash award of $500, which could be converted to a prestigious scholarship, if one wishes.
                              Apply promptly
Apply ASAP.   We anticipate this to be a very popular program, because it is such an obvious win-win.  The number of applicants may soon exceed our ability to handle it.

Political myths that hurt AsAms deeply (ii)

Here Is A Win-Win Solution

Display a flag to help celebrate July 4th.  The U.S. is not perfect.  But on that day, I'll be counting my blessings.
A Political Reality You Need to know

AsAm elected politicians are not willing to stand up for us because, not having an Asian majority in their respective election districts, they fear losing re-election.   Click here to read more details.

80-20 must answer these 2 Questions Satisfactorily & Did
Q1) Why doesn't Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii help us, since a majority of her voters are AsAms?
It is the aftermath of INTERNMENT in WWII.   In WWII, Japanese Ams in the continental U.S.A. were interned, but incredibly those in Hawaii were not!  Militarily, you'd think that it should be the other way around, right?  What caused that? An ugly blend of racism and greed. Hawaii's economy would have collapsed if Japanese Americans on the islands were interned. But interning Japanese Ams on the mainland provided benefits to a lot of the neighbors of the interned Japanese Ams, who then took over their properties.
As a result, AsAms in Hawaii have been induced to think that they would be better off NOT associating with AsAms on the mainland.  Isn't that a shame?
Q2) Why don't Elaine Chao and Nikki Haley, who are cabinet officials and who don't face elections, help us?
Cabinet officials serve at the pleasure of the president. If a cabinet official acts out of line and start working on projects of his/her own interest, he/she can be fired the next day.
Don't be discouraged.  There is a winning solution.  :-)
Just think!  Will AsAm elected and appointed officials make their share of effort to help AsAms achieve equal opportunity, IF there is an AsAm PAC that is 1/3 as powerful as AIPAC?
Of course they will, because those officials are good human beings like us.  ONCE they think they are protected by a powerful PAC, they'll do the right things. Additionally, they also know that a politically savvy PAC will go punish them, if they don't do their minimum share.
So roll up your sleeves and dig deeply into your pocket to help build a powerful AsAm PAC.  AIPAC's 2014 budget is $77 million!  80-20 PAC's is $0.1 million.  THINK!
Politics impacts you deeply.  You and you children don't have equal opportunity because AsAms are politically weak. You NEED political knowledge, and you need to sacrifice a little, to build up our political clout.
