Serving Our Community Responsibly
A. 80-20's Reward of $250 was not answered:
Those, who posted on Chinese social media (click 1 & 2) saying that 3 of 4 were Asians, have NOT come up with the evidence yet!
B. Washington Post reported that only 1 of the 4 was Asian:
A Washington Post article, written by Lori Aratani, stated "..... Meanwhile, one of the 70 passengers onboard the flight offered more details about the incident.
John Fuller of Fairfax, Va., described a chaotic - and bloody - scene as aviation security officers tried to remove Dao from the plane.
Fuller said ... when a United employee came aboard and said that four people would have to leave the plane.
"She was very terse," Fuller said. "She said 'Four people need to get off this plane or we're not going anywhere.'" When no one budged, Fuller said the woman left and returned with a list. She marched down the aisle. First she told a young couple they would have to leave and then a woman. Then she approached Dao, who was sitting in an aisle seat. Dao refused. Fuller said Dao's wife was not picked to leave. ..."
Lori Aratani also told us that Fuller didn't think any of the other 3 were Asians.
C. Dr. Dao's lawyer, Thomas Demetrio, promised to help verify: I called and emailed Dr. Dao's lawyer, Thomas A. Demetrio, who replied:
"Thank you very much for your email. I don't have an answer for your inquiry, but when I do, I promise to pass it on. In the meantime, I applaud you on your good work, and I wish you all good things going forward. Sincerely, Thomas A. Demetrio .... "
D. Maybe Transportation Sec. Elaine Chao will help verify too:
To serve you responsibly, 80-20 EF is seeking a double verification.
" Dear Sec. Chao: I write to seek some expedited information from you regarding United Airlines flight 3411 because you are the Secretary of the Department of Transportation with oversight over United Airlines through the Federal Aviation Administration .... finding out the truth about the racial mix of who get removed from US 3411 is in the national interest - not just the Asian American interest. ...
President, 80-20 Educational Foundation, Inc.; Lt. Gov. of Delaware (1985-89)"
E. Very Important Reminder
[A] If indeed 3 out of 4 of the randomly rejected passengers were Asians, as rumored in some Chinese social media, then there could be a race element. 80-20 shall be vigilant.
[B] If otherwise, it is probably an abuse case, not a race case. Dr. Dao and his lawyers will likely be rewarded millions if not tens of millions of dollars through court ordered "compensatory" and separately "punitive" damages or through settlement. Each nation has its own way of preventing abuses.
This is the way that the U.S. handles it.
80-20 ALWAYS stands up RESPONSIBLY for AsAms.
