An 80-20 position open -- not a job but a calling

For now, this person will work for me.  What I value most is an applicants' track record and dedication.  I love people who are workaholics, because 80-20 has sooooo much to do.

This position is for an executive assistant to the head of a national, nonpartisan Asian American impact cyber-organization, the 80-20 Initiative (www.80-20EducationalFoundation.org; ;www.80-20initiative.net).* This is a challenging position with the potential for one to have an enormous impact on the Asian American community, as well as tremendous personal growth in advocacy and political acumen. It is a chance to get in on the ground floor of a growing organization largely run by volunteer leaders. The job is demanding and can be very active both during and outside of business hours. Salary and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Job Duties: 
Capable of establishing a central cyber office capable of handling basic office administrative tasks including maintaining large email lists of members, preparing and sending official communications, meeting scheduling, sorting lists, complex database maintenance and sending fax.

Responsible for maintaining financial records and reconciling accounts;
Working closely with the organization's executive officer and treasurer to make disbursements;
Assisting in event planning;
Preparing travel itineraries and travel bookings both with a travel agency and independently;
Capable of conducting research, especially through the internet, on a wide variety of community and political issues; and
Handling sensitive communications with community and political leaders.

Basic Qualifications:
College degree or equivalent; 
Demonstrates commitment to making a difference in helping Asian Americans win equal opportunity and thus make America "a more perfect union";

Excellent cyber skills with experience in office and financial applications as well as search engines;
Must be discreet in the handling of sensitive matters;
Demonstrates good judgment and initiative; ability to work independently, prioritize work, accomplish tasks timely and accurately, and most importantly, be flexible in hours worked with a minimum of 35 hrs/wk, with many more hours expected during Presidential election years.

Detail oriented and have good carry through;
Good people skills;
Excellent communication skills in English; and
Proficiency in languages spoken in the Asian American community preferred, but not required.

*The 80-20 Initiative is composed of two independent organizations: 80-20 Educational Foundation ("EF") and 80-20 National Asian American Political Action Committee ("PAC").  The EF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that engages in non-partisan community advocacy.  The PAC is a political advocacy organization that is non-partisan, except during election years when it sometimes endorses candidates who work for our community's rightful interests.
