Call To Action - Naming Rights

CALL TO ACTION

80-20 will offer the most generous donor to  SELF (Self Empowerment Long-term Fund) the naming rights of its SELF program*.  For example: "John Doe SELF Program".  It will be a HISTORIC Asian American self-empowerment program that historians will write about for decades and perhaps ages to come.

The offer will be made good on Oct. 25, 2015, if SELF's target is reached.  If it is not reached, all donations will be refunded in full.

The person named for the SELF program must be in good standing with the Asian American community i.e. considered helpful to Asian American community's effort and desire to enjoy justice and equal opportunity.

We call upon all Asian Americans to forward this email to all of your friends.

How 80-20 Came to This Decision

80-20 still urges all Asian Ams to   DONATING here till it hurts.  Don't ride on others' coattails to be full-fledged citizens.

80-20 still seeks 3 more donations of $250,000 to match an existing generous donor, who will donate that amount when matched by 3 others.

However, 80-20 assessed that the best assurance to keep 80-20 alive is to call upon ALL AsAms to forward this e-newsletters to all their Asian Am friends and beyond.   Why?  Because that will likely get millions of $$$ for SELF instead of a few hundred thousand.  The clock is ticking.  Oct. 25 is only 9 months away.

                             How Can you stomach it?

Princeton Review, a popular college guide, advises Asian students applying to elite schools this way:  "Don't attach a photograph to your application and don't answer the optional question about your ethnic background... Write about something entirely unrelated to your ethnic background.'"  Princeton Review openly asks our brightest students to deny their beings, deny their ethnicity, and deny their basic human rights.

The above is indeed used in a lawsuit by "Students for Fair Admissions" as one evidence of discrimination against Asian Am students.

How can we stomach a situation where our future generation is openly advised to deny their ethnicity, an immutable part of their beings? What kind of psychological problem will this cause?  How could they respect their parents who flaunt their wealth with big cars and big houses, while not willing to contribute to 80-20, the only Asia Am org. fighting for these students?

So 80-20 must be kept alive to fight for our youngsters and ourselves. We are adding a weapon - money coming from winning the naming rights -- to help SELF reach $1 million per year for 5 years.  We also truly want to honor the most generous individuals who help SELF succeed, and Asian Ams win our justice and equal opportunity.  Note that America gains too.  America becomes a "more
perfect union" when we win our rights!

FORWARD this email to all you friends.  COUNTING ON YOU!
