Subject: Why the U.S. Media Treats Sterling & Beckel so Differently?

80-20 PAC, by far the largest Asian Am. political action committee, announced
today that it shall unite with all organizations, elected officials and individuals to
help achieve the goal of getting Robert Beckel fired by Fox. Beckel stated on
Fox TV “The Five” on 7/10/2014:
          “The Chinese are the single biggest threat to the national
           security of the U.S.,” and used a “C word”.

Click here to hear his racist, xenophobic statement, expressed with such hateful
body language and hand gestures. He seems bent on inciting a race war against
the Chinese people.

Just several months ago, ABC reviewed a taped Jimmy Kimmel segment during
which a kid blurted out “kill all Chinese” and let it air? Will ABC do the same, if
the word “Chinese” was replaced by Blacks or Jews? Now Beckel, as a news
analyst, publicly stated the above.

The Chinese American community is determined to stop such statements against
us, once and for all. Otherwise, we’ll be like the Jews in Nazi Germany who
eventually faced a very hostile home community.

S. B. Woo, 80-20 President & former Lt. Governor of Delaware says, “We are fully
aware that the U.S. is not Nazi Germany. On the other hand, if such statements
can come against us again and again without severe repercussions to the
offender, then the Chinese- and perhaps East-Asian-Americans will suffer
psychologically, physically and career wise.”

Clipper's owner Donald Sterling was banned from NBA for life and forced to sell
the team for his racial slur against blacks in a private conversation.
In comparison, Beckel called all people of Chinese descent “the single biggest
threat to the national security of the US” and used a “C word” in a public
broadcast! ” Why is our media so quiet on Beckel?” Woo asks. “Where are the
Asian Am. journalists, for heaven’s sake?” [meaning those who work in the mainstream

CALL TO ACTION

   WANT TO HELP STRIKE A BLOW to create the “deterrent
effect” that will prevent future derogatory depictions of people of
Chinese descent?

   UNITE!  Demand that FOX TV FIRE this talking head who on a
public broadcast said:

     "The Chinese are the single biggest threat to the national
      security of the U.S.,” a talking head on FOX TV said on
      7/10. "They have been, they will be and they can
      wait, they're very patient. Do you know what we just
      did? As usual, we bring them over here and we teach a
      bunch of Chinamen -- er, Chinese people -- how to do
      computers and then they go back to China and hack
      into us."

such hateful body language and hand gestures. He seems bent on
inciting a race war against Chinese. He had damaged grievously
the psychological, physical and career welfare of Chinese-Ams.

   For such a serious offense, an apology is NOT enough.
He must be FIRED.

   America came down hard on Sterling, as it should. Why is my
country so silent on this talking head, Fox TV and Mr. Murdock??

   80-20 shall never quit in this demand. We want this to be
the LAST such statements in major TV channels — establishing
a “deterrent effect”. Otherwise, frequent statements against
people of Chinese descent will occur. Our nation could become
so psychologically conditioned to implicitly and explicitly act
AGAINST the rightful interests of Chinese- and Asian-Americans.

   We have a huge amount of tools ready to call this to Fox’s
attention. See Footnote 1.

  • asking advertisers on Fox TV to stop their buys. If they don’t,
       we’ll call for a worldwide boycott of such products, by all
       persons of Chinese descent. Names of all advertisers on
       Fox TV in all big cities are being collected,
  • boycotting Fox while selecting CNN as our news channel,
  • demonstrating against Fox TV headquarters in CA, & Fox News
       in Rockefeller Center in NYC.

Chinaman, Xenophobia, a Statement Against all Chinese

     "The Chinese are the single biggest threat to the national
      security of the U.S.,” a talking head on FOX TV said 4
      days ago. "They have been, they will be and they can
      wait, they're very patient. Do you know what we just
      did? As usual, we bring them over here and we teach a
      bunch of Chinamen -- er, Chinese people -- how to do
      computers and then they go back to China and hack
      into us."

    Click here to hear the above statement, see his hateful gesture,
and decide for yourself, whether he used the word Chinaman by
accident, or was just baiting us. It is the worst racist statement
I’ve ever heard, not just the use of “Chinaman.” He actually accused
the Chinese people worldwide as the “single biggest threat to the
national security of the US.” Is he trying to inflame a race war? How
can Fox TV afford to employ such a talking head?

   Will such statements on TV hurt the mental health & physical
safety of your family members? How about your career if you are
aiming for a management position?

   This talking head on FOX TV didn’t specifically say anything bad about
Chinese Ams or Asian Ams, but will this kind of racist xenophobia spill
over to hurt you and your family? You bet!

   Remember that Vincent Chin, a Chinese Am., was killed by two
unemployed Detroit autoworkers with a baseball bat, because he
was taken to be a Japanese. Remember this famous message,
credited to Paster Niemoller who faced extremism in pre-WWII Germany:

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I
was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionist, and I did
not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for
the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they
came for me, there was no one left to speak for me.“

   Concerned? You should. Speak up & act NOW!

   80-20 seeks your input regarding what actions to take.

Myth against AsAms that we ourselves believe

   The most insidious result of being discriminated against is that the
victims may actually begin to believe that they are inferior. I used to
be such a victim. I would NOT have passed the following true or false tests
15 years ago, because I didn’t have the right info. Try this test below
so that you’ll get the right info and realize how much YOU’ve been
discriminated.

True & False Tests:

   Statistics show that AsAms apparently face the lowest glass ceiling in workplaces,
including private industries, universities and federal government. Could
there be subtler explanations which reveal that there is NO discrimination?

1. To be managers, one may need business degrees. However, Asian Ams
tend to get engineering & science degrees. That is why we have
met the glass ceiling. True or false?

2. Asian American, being mostly recent immigrants, don’t have as much
seniority in the work force, as compare to others. True or false?

3. AsAms have the highest average individual and household income in
the nation. These facts prove that AsAms are NOT being discriminated?
True or false?

4. AsAms, being from different cultures, don’t have sufficient managerial
ambition and ability, language skills, and the right sense of humor.
That is why we met the lowest glass ceiling. T or F?

   If you answered false to all 4, you have a perfect score. Here are the
facts that those without the perfect score, not be aware of.

To Q1: False. The percentage of Asian Americans with business degrees is
85% HIGHER than the national average. Although many of us have
engineering or science degrees, this does not translate into fewer business
degrees. This is because we have relatively few in fields such as English,
history, psychology, liberal arts, and the humanities in general. Indeed,
Asian Americans represent the highest percentage of all Americans with
MBAs, and the second highest percentage of people with either a
bachelors or doctoral degree in business. Click here to read

To Q2: False. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics*, Asians
Americans have on average greater seniority than Hispanics, although
Hispanics enjoy a much higher chance of being promoted to managerial
positions. Click here, then goo to Section IV and look for the answer to Q1.

To Q3: Income is tightly coupled to educational attainment according to
the Census of 2000. Given the fact that Asian Ams have on average much
higher educational attachment, if Asian American workers were paid the
average national salary according to their educational attainment, the
average Asian American income would be about 15% HIGHER than the
average Caucasian income. The reality is that we don’t do nearly as

Higher household income is a direct result of our higher individuals
income. In addition AsAms families have more wage earners family.
Again, without discrimination against AsAms, the average AsAm
Household earning will be even higher. Click here, and go to
Section IV, look for Q4.

To Q4: "Men are from Mars and women are from Venus." So the cultural
difference between men and women is not only large but possibly
intrinsic. But that has not prevented women from becoming leaders
nowadays. Think Sandra Day O’Connor, Diane Feinstein, and Hillary
Clinton.

When discrimination against women was rampant, women were thought
to have less managerial ambition, ability, and communication skills, and
to lack a sense of humor. At the time, many women believed they were
indeed lacking. That is the most insidious aspect of prejudice. The strong
and powerful can get the weak and powerless to doubt themselves!

Achieve “race diversity” in sport teams?

   Superbowl! World Series! NCAA/NBA Finals! These are celebrated
events that Americans LOVE TO WATCH, notwithstanding that
African-Am players are disproportionally large.

   What if an idiot advocates for racial diversity in sports teams?
“Not enough Asians,” he shouts. “Speed, strength and flexibility
tests in qualifying individuals for varsity and pro teams are NOT fair.
They discriminates against AsAms. Do away with such tests! At a
minimum, supplement the traditional tests with intelligence and will
power tests, because such qualities count in sports.”

   Will this person’s view be respected? No! Americans are a lot
smarter than that. We understand that it is the merits, which are
of primary importance to sports, that count.

   Most Americans will shake their heads and say, “If there are
Asians who are good enough to play at these levels, the recruiters will
be knocking down their doors to recruit them. What has race to do
with sports? Does this advocate understand that it is ‘the content
of character but not the color of the skin’ that counts, as Dr. Martin
Luther King said?”

   Here is my puzzlement. If the person who advocates racial diversity
in top level sport teams is not to be respected, why are advocates for
racial diversity in top level high schools and universities taken so
seriously?

the presidents of many universities, whom I respect but don’t agree
with. I like to know their answers.

   We need people who understand politics to defend ourselves,
