March 19,               BIG changes that may hurt us      Please read the March 19 e-newsletter, if you still didn't get it.                                             EFFECTIVENESS:                Protecting ourselves by punishing a Racist Politician     Remember EF'S e-newsletter "Small Enough To Jail - An injustice Against AsAms"?     Remember EF's plug about a wonderful video "Abacus Bank:  Small enough to Jail", which was about the injustice done by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance?  EF stated that we hoped that the documentary would be nominated for an Oscar.   Well, it was indeed nominated for Oscar, although it didn't win.     Remember that EF reported in the above e-newsletter:     "The Misdeeds of Cyrus R. Vance, Jr.     (1) No sense of justice: He accommodates the strong and takes            campaign money from their attorneys:     Excerpts from  Cyrus Vance Jr. - Wikipedia "Vance also drew controversy for deciding not to press criminal charges against public figures accused of crimes, including Harvey Weinstein, Ivanka Trump, and Donald Trump Jr., after which he received campaign contributions from their attorneys.""       Result? On March 20, Frontline reported Cyrus Vance is now under investigation by N.Y.'s Governor into his handling of the WEINSTEIN case! Click on N.Y. Big Changes in Nat'l Policy that May Hurt You

There'll be more such statements/actions to come that may hurt you.       FBI Director Wray's Senate statement and the mistreatment of Dr. Chunzai Wang by FBI investigators are only low level government agents following President Trump & DOD Secretary Mattis's directives.   Nat'l Security Strategy of 2018, issued by Pres. Trump and Nat'l Defense Strategy, issued by Gen. Mattis You have a job and a family to care for.  You don't have the time to search out & read such documents, because normally they don't impact your interests much.      NYT, and even our ethnic AsAm media, don't tell you about this particular matters, that will deeply impact your interests.  That is when 80-20 Edu. Foundation steps in, because you need to know!!!         Pres. Trump's statement gives the clear message that big power competition is back.  Terrorism, which was considered the number one threat to America since 2001, is no longer so. China is our nation's worst threat now.       Sec. Mattis' statement, coming from a lower level, is more explicit.  In his third paragraph, China is already explicitly named:      "China is a strategic competitor using predatory economics to intimidate its neighbors while militarizing features in the South China Sea.  Russia ..... North Korea .... Iran .... ISIS ...." See how threats are rank-ordered now?  China is first, Russia is second, Terrorism is ranked much lower.  Later, the document states: "China ...  seeks ...  displacement of the United States ..."   How does Gen. Mattis plan to win this strategic competition?       (Effective competition) requires combined actions with the U.S. interagency ... Departments of State, Treasury, Justice, Energy, Homeland Security, Commerce, USAID, as well as the Intelligence Community, law enforcement, and others. In other words, a full-court press to win.  FBI is a component of the Justice Dept.  It follows orders.        What if there is collateral damage as lawyer Peter Zeidenberg has stated in the case of Dr. Chunzai Wang?  "Too bad" is the current attitude of the Trump administration.  AsAms: We need to unite and protect ourselves!                  80-20 Respects the Decisions of Our Nat'l Leaders,  But We'll Staunchly Defend Asian/Chinese-Am Civil Rights      FBI Director Wray on February 13th broadly painted the whole of Chinese nationals in America who are students, scientists, and professors as a unique threat to our society, and urged a "whole of society response" to counter that threat. Such a careless statement has the un-intended consequence of harming ALL AsAms. Can people tell the difference between an Asian or an Asian American (AsAm) and a Chinese national or a Chinese American?  If not, will the suggested "whole of society response" to Chinese nationals harm the lives of ALL AsAms?  Will our careers also be negatively impacted, if we can't turn back this type of negative stereotyping?             80-20 Provides A Unique Service to the AsAm Community      80-20 understands politics. We have the political contacts to provide you with political info that you must have to navigate your life adequately -- info that the rest of our community, including our media, is unable to provide to tip you off. Just knowing Director Wray's statement and the mistreatment of Chunzia Wang is NOT enough. You need to know the source of pressure that caused these deeds. Then and only then will we find an effective way to defend ourselves.       Work with EF and support it. Things will be very tough for months and years to come. Together, we'll find a way to uphold our full rights as American citizens. How'll our children rate us?

Dear Fellow Asian Americans:                                   Here Are the Issues      You are American citizens.  You know well that  (1)  our children face the tallest barriers in their applications for admissions       to elite colleges, and (2) our adults face the lowest glass ceiling in their workplaces. What have you done to right these wrongs?                            How will your children rate you? Your children take numerous mental pictures of you in your actions or lack of actions. Have you ever lifted a finger to fight for your rights and theirs? How do you think your children will rate you? a) you are a courageous and tireless fighter for their rights, or b) you do your share in fighting for their rights, or c) you try to get others to fight for them, but will make an occasional effort when necessary, or d)  you talk a lot but never take any concrete action, or e)  you are a silly coward who care only for your immediate self-interests.       Trouble will find you.  We must ALL do our share to be safe.         Remember Peter Zeidenberg?  He was the lawyer who successfully defended Sherry Chen and Prof. Xi of Temple.  80-20 EF, together with others, held a dinner in Peter's honor, and raised $18,000 for Sherry Chen's legal fees.           Peter has recently written to the leadership of the Congressional Asian Pacific Am Caucus, CAPAC.  The letter's title is: Chunzai Wang and the Targeting of Chinese-American Scientists.         His last paragraph stated:  "Dr. Wang was unfairly targeted and victimized by his own government, a fact recognized by the judge in his case. He is collateral damage in the United States government's campaign against Chinese-American scientists. Unfortunately, he will not be the last. " (emphasis added)          Click here to read Peter Zeidenberg's letter to CAPAC.  Read it so that you'll know how tough things are these days.  The extra-legal pressure is intentional.  The only way the pressure will let up is if we mount effective counter pressure.                                            Will YOU be next?            To avoid being the next victim, help EF organize a national press conference to be held in the National Press Club in D.C. EF will work with all who join as equals to issue a formal statement to the nation that the full rights of AsAms must be upheld. Unite Before It's Too Late

EF also strongly believes that making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence is unconstitutional. It is McCarthyism. Therefore, EF opposes such extra-legal political pressure.                    What is Wrong with FBI Director Wray's Statement    FBI Director Wray answered Senator Rubio's question on February 13th by broadly painting the whole of Chinese nationals in America who are students, scientists, and professors as a unique threat to our society, and urged a "whole of society response" to counter that threat.  We strongly urgeDirector Wray to retract his stereotyping based on race and ethnicity, because it has the un-intended consequence of harming ALL AsAms.       Can people tell the difference between an Asian or an Asian American (AsAm) or a Chinese national or a Chinese American?  If not, will the suggested "whole of society response" to Chinese students, professors & scientists  adversely  affect the lives of ALL Asian Americans as well?  Will our careers also be negatively impacted, if we can't turn back this type of negative stereotyping?      Is Mr. Wray even fair to the Chinese students, scientists and professors who are not spying on us?                             An Effort To Meet With Director Wray     For reasons too complicated to go into, 80-20 EF has not joined, but sincerely wishes success for the group that has jointly sent a letter to FBI director Wray asking for a meeting.  Click here to read the letter whose sentiment EF agrees with.                             How Director Wray May Respond;                               Director Wray may react in one of several ways: 1)  Delaying for a long time before answering; 2)  Refusing to meet; 3)  Agreeing to meet and modifying his broad brush attack on persons of      Chinese decent to a more nuanced statement; 4)  Doubling down on his earlier statement as President Trump often did.                          How to Prepare to Defend Ourselves                  In America, when political pressure comes against us, the only effective way to defend ourselves is to apply political pressure back.  The kind that will result in affecting the outcome of an important election, namely the mid-term Congressional election this November.  We want the political party, that doesn't share our rightful concerns, to lose that election.  UNITE to produce that counter pressure before it's too late.           Join us!  If you are the head of an AsAm organization, large or small, please click here to join EF, as an equal, to support this movement to defend ourselves. It includes the scheduling of a national press conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C.  Decisions on "when and how" will be made in accordance with the principles of transparency, group leadership and democratic procedure.              The national press conference will be an effective 2nd punch to compliment the first punch, which is the request of a meeting with Director Wray.  This e-newsletter will let Director Wray know that our position at the national press conference will depend on whether he has shared our rightful concerns.       Courage!  Think of your children and ACT!  Before it is too late.          S.
